Other things companies might try in the future is putting advertisments in the show. They will make the actors and actresses advertise so then they can get the money from the advertisers that will be decreasing if people fast forward through the commercials because of TiVo and DVR. They might also make shorter commercials breaks so you don't have enough time to fast forward but then they could put a lot of them into one show and so there is a lot of breaks because if the people really like the show they will stay tuned. Those are only some ways that the future could still get advertisments through.

I knew that the media influenced consumers a lot but I had no idea exactly how much. Adversiters know exactly when to have their ads and what station to hasve them on because they have to research that information to make as much money as they can. They need to know who will buy their product and what kind of shows they enjoy. They influence us with their ads by showing our needs, wants, and desires. The media also influences us by the television shows because they use stereotypes and showing meanings. We see the stereotypes and believe they must be true becuase we don't understand them otherwise. We also see body types on TV and want to look just like that. Girls believe they can look exactly like the models and don't understand why they can never lose enough weight to look like them. The media influences us in positive and negative ways, we just have to figure out what they are trying to get at.

I think that companies paying for advertisement in TV shows is a good idea for the companies. Now that people are starting to get the programs where you can record shows so you don't have to watch commercials, people are not watching them. So by companies putting their ads in the show itself causes a greater population watching that ad. Teenagers will actually watch it because its funny. It is also a great way to help us remember because its easir to remember the show then the commercials. Also if its put in a place that makes it really funny, you will remember it just because it was so funny. I think this is a great idea of companies and advertisers but not for us. Eventually for us it will get annoying having all these ads in our shows because you can't stop watching the show but you ca leave the room during commercials or fas forward during commercials.

Some ads that I have noticed online are the ads on myspace and facebook where you can play a game and win something. On these ads it says you could win a free something if you win the game. The games are usually really easy to beat and everyone cn win because you can play over and over again until you do win. But the thing is you have to sign up for something else inorder to get the free prize. So you are told you can play a fun game and win a free prize. Then once you win, it tells you the truth..... You must sign up for something you usually don't want to sign up for to win the free prize. So in the end the prize isn't really free. But it is good for targeting kids and teenagers because the games are fun to play. These are more effective ads when it comes to getting kids attention.

A current TV show I watch is Ghost Whisperer. This show represents Achievement ad Success because throughout the show Melinda works hard on trying to figure out what the ghosts that coe to her want from her. She must research and talk to family members about them. Thi takes a lot of her time bt in the end she helps the families of the person and the ghost that came to her. It also represents Individualism because Melinda uses her gift of seeing ghosts and talking to them to help them and their families even though other people call her crazy and weird for doing it. She doens't listen to what other people say, she stays true to herself and her gift.
This show tells people to be themselves and help others no matter what people say about you or what people do to you for being yourself and helping others. It will make everything worth it once you help the people because it makes you feel great for being able to help them. It shows this by showing how Melinda loves helping people even when other people are saying mean things about her gifts, she still loves helping the ghsts and thir families because it make her feel good to see them so happy in the end.

How do the media images & stereotpyes of men & women impact how we view each other professionally (at school, at work, in politics, etc.)?

Media images and stereotypes of men and women impact how we view each other by women thinking the men must be stronger and protect them because in the media they are potrayed as that the strong and dominant ones. They are shown protecting women in movies and stories. The men view women as the motherly type. They must have a lot of emotion and motherly instinct in them because they always do in movies and stories told by the media. These stereotypes make it hard for the male and females to switch roles. If a man has too much emotion then he is thought of as gay. If a women has too much strength and is too protective then she is thought of as a manly women. These are thought of as not being an okay thing. Men and women should stay in their own areas according to the media.

Why should consumers be worried about media conglomerates?

Consumers should be worries about media conglomerates because we won't have the same variety of shows that we do now. If big businesses own all the smaller ones, they will have the same basic ideas and regulations. It would be easier for them to control what we watch and it would be easier for them to get messages stuck in our heads. They could show certain shows or commercials to get us to remember that one thing they need us to remember. We are already so influenced by the media and if there is only a few businesses controlling it, then it is too easy for them to ge us to think the same way they do about anything. We wouldn' be able to compare different sources to try and take the bias out of the aricles in newspapers and magazines. We would end up completely controlled by the media, and not have our own thoughts.

When I interviewed three people about media, they had a lot of the same things to say. They all agreed that media was something that gives you informationabout the world. They also use the media because it helps them understand what's going on in the world. That is how the media impacts them. The only thing that was different was what source of media they use. My grandma uses the newspaper because she thinks the best stories are in there. My mom uses the News because it is a quick overview of all thats happening in the world. My friend uses the internet because it is the easiest and fastest way to get information needed. That is what they, the people I interviewed, think about media.
